  1. LOST & FOUND–TRIXIE GIVES US A SCARE!

December 31, 2014 by Animal Rentals

Trixie, one of ANIMAL RENTALS popular models and  animal ambassadors, was no where to be seen early  Monday  morning.   Employees offered various    reasons for her disappearance;  still in  bed, sleeping  in another part of the  building,  exploring another  part of the building,  hiding upstairs  in the apartment  or too busy paying attention to some  new arrivals.  Whatever the reason, Trixie was missing.

Bill Hoffmann, aided by employees and friends, searched the building from the roof to the basement with little success.  However, a set of keys, one of Mindy’s less favorite toys and a handful of missing pens were found.  The police were notified, fliers were printed and shelters were put on notice.  Bill, like any petl lover, was worried.  For Trixie to be gone for such a length of time was highly unusual as she was well trained and a “people and animal person”, happiest when she was surrounded by her friends.

It was Victoria, a few hours later, who heard an unusual scratching sound coming from a corner near her desk.  With all the animals of Mindy’s Menagerie accounted for, that sound could mean only one thing.  Moments later a dusty, but still happy Trixie crawled from beneath the desk with an equally dusty tennis ball firmly in her mouth.  It appeared that while attempting to retrieve it,  the little terrier became trapped.  She walked slowly to Bill, gave him her best “I’m Sorry” expression and dropped the ball at his feet.

Calls were made, posters taken down, sighs of relief filled the building.  TRIXIE WAS HOME!

  2. ADAM MONK ENJOYS HIS CHRISTMAS PRESENT.

December 27, 2014 by Animal Rentals

Christmas arrived early for ADAM MONK, the elder statesman of ANIMAL RENTALS.  What do you get a 42 year old retired monkey for Christmas?

It’s kind of like getting something for your grandfather.  Clothes were out of the equation as Monk practices  the lifestyle of a nudist.  He’s too old to play with toys and is not one to dine at fancy restaurants.  Besides, as is the case with most senior citizens, Monk is on a restricted diet. He doesn’t go out much, but does enjoy his daily walk around the premises.  Finally Barbara, Monk’s handler and caretaker, found the perfect solution to the problem.   So on December 24th, Monk enjoyed a soothing bubble bath followed by a soft, long massage with mineral oil.  By the smile on his face, he really enjoyed his gift.  Thanks Barb.  This was the perfect choice.

  3. CHICAGO MAGAZINE LIKES MINDY THE MONKEY!

December 21, 2014 by Animal Rentals

Evidently the writers  of The Concierge column in the 2015 edition of the CHICAGO magazine know talent when they see it.  ANIMAL RENTALS very own animal ambassador, Mindy the Monkey, led the list of critters available for rent.  Mindy, however, is the only primate available in Chicago making ANIMAL RENTALS  your choice when searching for something different.  Besides Mindy, we offer unique entertainment including “exotic” hands-on animal shows, petting zoos, pony rides and camel rides.  Go to Mindy’s Menagerie and meet and learn more about our animal actors.

  4. LAS PASADAS–CHRISTMAS RE-ENACTMENTS

December 20, 2014 by Animal Rentals

ANIMAL RENTALS has proudly participated in Christmas re-enactments for over 70 years.  The Las Pasadas has been a popular tradition in our Latin-American communities for four centuries.

The production consists of two people dressed as Mary and Joseph along with attendants such as angels and shepherds searching for lodging.  With a very pregnant  Mary riding atop a live donkey (burro) the procession, usually followed by musicians, moves to designated homes (inns) looking for a place to rest. In many cases a church or chapel is the final destination where room is made for Mary and Joseph.  Here refreshments are offered to the participants.

ANIMAL RENTALS also provides sheep, lambs, camels and other various farm animals to make each presentation or program an event to remember.

  5. HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM ANIMAL RENTALS

December 15, 2014 by Animal Rentals

ANIMAL RENTALS helped spread some holiday cheer at a party hosted by FISHER CONTROLS in Iowa on Saturday, December 13th. Animal ambassador, Mindy the Monkey, dressed in her most appropriate seasonal garments along with Purse the Alligator, Sylvester the Skunk, Ruby the African Grey Parrot and others entertained the audience. Photo opportunities were everywhere with people taking “selfies” with our pets.

  8. WATCH MAGICIAN MICHAEL KENT MAKE A MONKEY OUT OF “MINDY THE MONKEY”

    by Animal Rentals

Our magician friend Michael Kent had some fun with Mindy the Monkey, animal ambassador of ANIMAL RENTALS, at a recent party they attended. Mindy loves magic and having associated with entertainers and magicians from all over the country, she was pretty sure how the trick worked. Watch Michael make a monkey out of well, a monkey. It was all in fun and the audience really enjoyed the show. Thanks, Michael, hope to work with you again. Sorry Mindy took a bite out of your ball.

  9. LOYOLA UNIVERSITY, SEE YOU SOON!

December 2, 2014 by Animal Rentals
Great News!  The “I’s” have been dotted and the “T’s” have been crossed.  Its official. Animal Rentals will be at Loyola University in Chicago this Wednesday for an afternoon of fun and education. Okay, mostly fun. It would have been a huge disappointment to have traveled throughout the United States this year and not be able to bring our “hands-on” exotic animal display to our very own city. We are looking forward to seeing our fellow “Chicagoans”.  Let the fun commence!
